Concordia's Field Experience Program
Concordia’s Faculty of Education balances a strong theoretical, research-based academic program of studies with related practical experiences. During two academic years in the B.Ed. (After Degree) program, students experience elementary school life from the beginning to the end of the school year.
Year One Field Experiences
During the first year, students are assigned to schools in the Fall semester and continue to work with the cooperating teachers and their classes through to, and including, a four-week full-day field experience during March and April.
Year Two Field Experiences
During the second year, students participate in a nine-week field experience in the first semester and periodic visits to schools during the second semester. Students may also elect to participate in an Extended Field Experience that allows each to experience the beginning of the school year.
Following completion of the program in April, new graduates may participate in a final field experience, the Initiation to Teaching Program (ITP), during May and June for which they receive a bursary from Concordia.
